It's 40% Christian, used to be majority Christian not too long ago.
Why did this country turn out so shit, like every other majority Muslim middle eastern country? Why couldn't it become more western and align itself more with Europe? Most of their Christians even belong to a catholic church which is in full communion with the pope.

The war happened because of deliberately divisions between Christians and Muslims that were exasperated by French colonial rule because the French clearly favoured the Christians and essentially created a privileged class which Muslims and Lebanese left wing groups understandably resented.
