Nah, it's different in bulgarian and macedonian dialects.
In standard macedonian it's raka, maž, in standard bulgarian it's the shwa sound, mǎž, rǎka, while other dialects it can be o and u and even other vowels.
The original was a nasal o, I'm sure it's preserved in some obscure mountain sheepfucker dialect.
