It's really depressing here, mainly because there's no jobs, the city is crumbling, and nobody here is happy, (plus there's clouds 98% of the time from november to apri) but you said it, it has a comfy homely feel, so even though I may leave, I'll always consider here home. Yeah, there isn't much that can be done about all the tourists, but that is basically daily life in Manhattan. Did you visit the other boroughs? They all have something nice, even the Bronx has some nice areas. They also have way less tourists. Pic related is a park near me that doesn't get much in the way of tourists due to central park.

I lived in something like that in Beijing. It was pretty OK except for my psycho roommate. If I'd been in any other apartment but that one I'd probably have loved it. Nice community atmosphere.
Oh, and another one across town that was a total shithole. The electricity was so bad that some appliances wouldn't work, and it was probably a fire hazard. We moved out when someone bought the apartment for 2.4 million RMB.

During the twelfth century a round defensive tower was built on Kalmarsund and a harbour constructed. At the end of the thirteenth century King Magnus Ladulås had a new fortress built with a curtain wall, round corner towers and two square gatehouses surrounding the original tower. Located near the site of Kalmar's medieval harbor, it has played a crucial part in Swedish history since its initial construction as a fortified tower in the 12th century.
