The first link doesn't have any sourced information, so I don't know where they're getting all that from. I read from AR Darshi's Gallant Defender that Lala Jagat Narain gave false testimony which saved the Nirankaris from being convicted and punished. He then says that Bhindranwale was arrested and released because he wasn't found to have a connection to the murder of Narain. AR Darshi was a Hindu judge in Punjab btw, but still I don't know if he's trustworthy either.
The 2nd link does source one quote that says Nagoke killed Atwal to send a message to the rest of the Punjab police. The source on that is Mark Tully(a guy close to Indira Gandhi and a guy who I've heard give shaky and potentially untrue info on live British radio iirc).
