The Scandinavian languages (Norwegian, Danish and Swedish) should be merged. They are all dialects of the same language and only tiny differences exist between them. If an effort was made, I'm certain that it would be possible to completely merge these dialects into one language. This language should be based on the Oslo dialect of Norwegian, since it's the best middle ground.

AFAIK it's a linguistic continuum - you can understand people near you, but further you travel, the less you can understand. So I assume someone in, say, Southern Sweden can understand a Dane just fine, but not someone from Northern Norway.
