I don't see a problem with owning guns, learning to respect them, using them for hunting etc.
But I think it's weird that it's a right, I think it would make more sense to treat it like car ownership, that you can have one if you can prove that you have the minimum amount of competency to use one safely.
Personally I don't own any guns but I've been with my uncle to the range a couple times and I also went through the conscription.
