I went there twice and I'm going back again for work. For me the people were really kind a cafe owner even got me dinner at no cost before. There were times where I was walking alone and just speaking to a chinese girl a bit made her my friend and we spent the whole day together. There are still plenty of old buildings and cities in China, but they are also still building new ones.

I watched No Man's Land, and it looks like northern China consists of wide open areas with few people, but still with roads. Kind of like parts of the US. We don't have areas like that in Europe, except maybe in Russia, but who wants to go there?
