Is Belarus essentially North Korea lite?

I would like to know more about how it has been able to maintain communist ways this long.
>>
No. They are more liberal and adequate in comparing with russian. They even have alternate latin alphabet..
>>

Wat de fuck are you saing?
>>
What? No, it's not even close. It's more like Russia lite.
>>
They follow Market-Socialism.

>Is Belarus essentially North Korea lite?

Not really, kind of I guess. It is still essentially a dictatorship in the sense that all opposition is stomped out and "elections" are rigged as fuck, but it's not nearly as much of shithole as North Korea is and they aren't nearly as crazy.

The guy is basically nostalgic as fuck for the USSR and models the country after it, they have a "KGB". Going to Belarus is like going to Russia 30 years ago
>>
>>51543218
No ofc, Belarus is preatty nice and free country if you not plotting a riot against the Batska.
>>
>>51543403

I understand that they are not 100% closed from the world, do they follow a similar system to China? Is it more restrictive?

>>
>>51543218
>Is Belarus essentially North Korea lite?

No. It is something like liberal version of Russia. There is a dictator, but he is playing always two cards to ensure the country is not totally isolated.
>>
it's not democracy but it's not NK at all. You can freely leave this place, also there is no churkas and muslims. And they don't bully
>>
>>51543439
Abortion is legal.
>>
>>51543431

I don't know the details, but apparently this allowed them to avoid the worst part of the shock therapy and keep most of the industrial base to the point that their economy was in better shape than Russia during the 90s.
>>
>>51543218
They're a OK country and a nice society. Communism ended there in 60s like anywhere in USSR.
>>
>>51543661
>Communism ended in the 60s
Do you mean like literal communism rather than just in name?

>>

Our government dropped the idea of building communism and chose "an advanced socialism" over it.
>>

I think he means historical revisionism, like covering the invasion of Eastern Europe and focusing entirely post Operation Barbarossa in education about WW2.
>>
>>51544449
It doesn't have anything to do with communism.

Like on the play store or apple store how certain apps aren't the full version of others, so they call those apps "lite" versions of the paid-for app

>>51546648

Red pill about Belarus:
Take Russia. Clean dirt and shit from streets. Return people to villages, build noce roads, reduce prices and wages. Reduce crime and AIDS. Add bunch of catholics. You get Belarus.
