Having a true understanding of the common muslim psych would require one to be quite literally retarded, just like you would have to be to understand feminists or communisits.
But in short, muslims believe that they–and only they–have been handed the divine truth about this world. They believe the Coran to be the timeless manual on how to lead the perfect life (and afterlife), both as an individual and a society. They don't believe other cultures and societies to be inherently good, nor are they required to do good; quite the opposite, non-believers are naturally prompted to do evil.
They way the see it is, Europeans and other developed societies (Japanese, North Americans, etc.) are prosperous because they followed the teachings of Islam–minus the allahu akbar parts–and that the only reason these places aren't literal utopias, is because they are degenerate and don't follow Allah's teachings to the t, so naturally they can never achieve real perfection.
Muslims believe (to varying degrees) that the reason their countries are such shitholes isn't because of Islam, but because of puppet regimes installed by the west/israel/illumlinatis (or all three combined), who conspire against the Muslim world to keep it down and stop it from practicing the "real" Islam by means of westernization.
So they flee their shitholes to what they believe to be a closer version of what Islam intended the world to be (the West), and naturally, since these places are already quite good with only applying parts of Islam, one can only imagine what they'd look like under full Islamic practice. This is why you have people demanding Sharia law while immigrating from places where that very same law is applied. They're blinded into thinking that Sharia is the absolute perfect system, so shitholes are definitely not applying it correctly (you can make your own comparison with communists on this point).

Muslims' biggest problem is that they see the entire world as an enemy. Now many of them like the West and are genuinely interestd in it, but they can never fully trust it or its people, there will always be barriers.
"Never will the Jews or the Christians be satisfied with thee unless thou follow their form of religion," is a very popular hadith in the Muslim world and is often taken to heart.
They think they (Muslims) are the good guys and that the evil world is standing against them, so if they show good faith they are being good dogs to the enemy and furthering its cause, and they will inevitably get stabbed in the back once they're no longer useful to it.
It's a very toxic mentality and understanding this can explain much of their behaviour, a mixture of wariness and entitlement.
