Calm down, this is really not an issue at all.
If anything Greek accent is similar to Spanish I suppose.

I've also heard a lot of tourists speaking Greek and locals will usually be amazed and compliment at them.

I mean Acute, Circumflex and Grave
>>
That's because anglo pronunciation is fucked up.

Instead of pronounce the letters as they should be you fucking do I don't even know what you do.. It's weird and unnatural.

>anglo pronunciation is fucked up
>Instead of pronounce the letters as they should

While some countries stick to a convention on how letters are pronounced within words, they still have their exceptions. English has grown so much such that it has even more exceptions than the rule. This is frustrating, yet that's how language works.
>>
akva can easily be aqua and indeed that's how it's pronounced in several languages

i agree the anglo version is shit
>>
>>51511473
I thought the rule was the more exceptions in your language the greater it is?
>>

Seriously fuck Greek
>>
>>51511460
You mean accent marks? I'd rather have a language showing me where to stress a syllable rather than English where you have to take a guess and hope you stressed the right one.
>>
>>51511830
But I literally never worry about what to stress in English, I just talk and it works
>>
>>51511866
That's because you've heard those words before. The accents serve for both natives and non-natives.

How'd you pronounce Ely for example?
>>

EE-Lee

Try being a Pole speaking English. Makes you feel retarded and you start to stutter.

To be honest, I'm far from fluent (I lack practice since I came back) but when I was there, I was able to have small talk conversations at best. Polish is pretty hard to learn, especially as a Latin language speaker. You have so many rules which don't make sense at all. Polish grammar is a bitch.
But in the end, Polish is a quite rewarding language to speak. It's complex and sounds beautiful and Poles are always glad when you try to speak their language.
I'd love to be able to read some Polish literature in its original language someday.

Not even shitposting senpai, I don't know of any good Polish authors, which is sad as even Russia has some of the greatest

Poland has as many Nobel prizes in Literature as Russia.
I think I'm pretty pleb when it comes to Polish authors. I read Gombrowicz, Kapuściński, Lem and Witkiewicz

Also the Great Vowel Shift back in the day messed things up quite a bit.
