Had a lot of family serve since WWII and they've all told the rest of my family not to let anyone else join up unless it's non-combat, like an engineer or in logistics, simply because they all came back completely fucked.
Even my great gran's last words to me and my brother we telling us not to. I was fucking 8 years old so I had no idea why she was saying it. A few years later I found out she'd been AA on the Thames and has actually been seriously injured from a bomb :/
