It's not a good idea doing that here, mate. Even if you are in a safe area, like Mexico City. There are bad parts here as well despite all the nice areas, and a lot of the times those places are right next to each other.
And, while you won't see beheadings and any of the narco violence around safe areas like Mexico City and tourist places, there are a lot of thugs that will assault you or rob you if you are too naive.
