Is it true that France is now under martial law? I saw that Marine le Pen was jailed recently for enciting racial hatred, but that happened in October.

I thought that Europe was a place of free thought and opportunity, is Europe dead or is it just France?

>Is it true that France is now under martial law?
No.

> I saw that Marine le Pen was jailed recently for enciting racial hatred, but that happened in October.
There's a trial going on about a 5 years old story, but nothing will come out of it, and you can't get jailed for enciting racial hatred, fined only.

Any more questions ?

>Is it true that France is now under martial law?
Not exactly but not far, it's the state of emergency, wich give almost unlimited powers to the authorities.
>>
>>51419574
>There's a trial going on about a 5 years old story
Why does it take 5 years for a prominent public figure to get a trial?

>>51419643
Have they said how long the state of emergency will last?

Brussels has been under an emergency state for weeks now.
>>
>>51419695
3 months for France, and the threat level of Brussels was lowered a little while ago.
>>
>>51419767
>the threat level of Brussels was lowered a little while ago.
So are the businesses and public areas open again?
>>
>>51419695
>Have they said how long the state of emergency will last?
Until February, but they have already said that they will probably ask for a vote to keep it longer.
The argument is that it allows them to huse search without warrants and therefore eradicate weapond traffic in France, to close extremist mosques more easily and to control the borders etc..but there are already been some abuses and people start to be more and more angry and suspicious about all that.
>>
We got our own Patriot Act, we Americans nao.
>>
>>51419879
>but there are already been some abuses and people start to be more and more angry
Like what? Are people being forced to house police and military?

Americans were literally salivating when word got out that France closed its borders.
>>
>>51419934
Wow and only 150 people needed to die?

You guys caved easy.
>>
french policemen can now carry their guns everywhere they go even when not in active service.

best thing that came out of the 130 kills
>>
If i go to france in the next 10 or so years will it be absolutely overrun with muslims and africans like I'm expected to believe or is it all just memes

http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/nov/27/paris-climate-activists-put-under-house-arrest-using-emergency-laws

Political rights are already being curtailed under anti terrorist laws.
>>
>>51419479
>Is it true that France is now under martial law?
State of emergency, that doesn't give the same power at all. And it's certainly not "unlimited".

>>51419695
>Why does it take 5 years for a prominent public figure to get a trial?
Because justice is slow in France, we lack judges and everytime a gov say they will fix the justice problem they just build more jails

kek

Does France get dangerous weather events? People in the U.S. always use hurricanes and tornados to further the agenda of climate change supporters.

I don't want a world where those ppl are in control.

>>51420275
Are there enough French people to reverse the state of emergency if the officials try to extend it?

Who 'supports' the state of emergency? Leftists or hmm?

in europe, there really is no escape from socialism.

well, perhaps tiny countries like Lujxemburg and switzerland.

They are. They just don't want to.
>>51420248
No. These people did a manifestation less than 10 day after the attack. Manifestation are forbidden for safety reasons since the state of emergency. So, they get arrested. That's not an attack on political rights, that's an attack on dumb fuck that force the police and the military to watch over them while they scream on the street.

>>51420387
>Who 'supports' the state of emergency? Leftists or hmm?
Everybody. Even the hard left say it's necessary.
>Are there enough French people to reverse the state of emergency if the officials try to extend it?
For it to be extended it has to be voted by the assembly.
And again, it's NOT unlimited power at all. The gov can't shit laws or something.
>>
>>51420566
>You make it sound like in america "people" have a say on every decisions the government
But we do; we don't always win, but at least our opinions are made known.

For instance; the U.S. won't be taking refugees until Obama increases the screening.

>>51420574
Europe has countries with small populations; which makes that economic system easier to implement that here in the U.S.
>>
>>51420232
>>51420609
I may have misunderstood you on the "protest" thing.
If you asked why we can't do a protest ont the street it's like I said, because of safety reasons.
It force the police and the military to keep watch when they could do something else more useful. It's very risky and a waste of time. So, not allowed.
>>
>>51420609
But articles are floating around everywhere that French protests (in Paris anyway) are being stopped...
>>
>>51419957
Since the beginning of the state of emergency, there has been 2000 house searches, 165 arrests, 1200 house arrests, all of this without any warrants or justifications needed. 300 guns have also been ceased, 2 mosques have been closed yesterday, and about 1200 people rejected at the borders.

But there has also been several abuses with violent house searches, hurting a little girl for example, non-violent ecologist militants being house arrested for no good reasons and their computers ceased etc...
>>
>>51420710
>It force the police and the military to keep watch when they could do something else more useful. It's very risky and a waste of time. So, not allowed.
hopefully that won't stick.
>>
>>51419824
They never closed.
>>
>>51420760
Yeah, >>51420710
Sorry for the misunderstanding.
But it's not a case of "we can't protest, the gov stop us!"
It's "well, yeah, of course people can't rally on the streets to let the terrorists have an easy target"

>>51420836
It won't. Hollande don't strike me as the dictator type even if he fuck shit up
>>
>>51420813
I always saw this happening in the UK first, I'm sorry for France and French ppl.
>>
>>51420677
>For instance; the U.S. won't be taking refugees until Obama increases the screening.
Satest have more power from tyhe central government than we do here that's true.
It doesn't make "people" of america having more say on the government, though.
>>
>>51420760
They are, this guy just don't know what he's talking about. There has been a very small "demonstration" in Paris that was forbidden. People still did it and several of them have been arrested.
>>
>>51420945
i meant States
>>
>>51420980

Misunderstood on protest. I corrected myself below.

ahahah fascism has come to france.

you may now plead for help from islamic nations to help free you.
>>

Shut up you burgereating cunt... keep focusing on the worlds biggest shitstain that is your country and just to clarify... no other nation in the world is as obsessed with their fucking president except the most fucked up dictatorships... that tells you something
>>

People live in the states. State legislatures are real people too.
>>

Go figure, right?
>>
>>51421076
France is just a big state. Tbh.
Being filled with shitty politicians and migrants.
>>
>>51421015
It is considered for now as a necessary evil, but even just 2 weeks later, there are already more and more peole questionning it and some discontent raising.

But for now, 2 weeks after the killings and with the world climate summit and its 150 head of state taking place in such exeptionnal conditions, most people can understand the necessity of the state of emergency.

The debate about it will really start after the world climate summit.
>>
>>51420895
>well, yeah, of course people can't rally on the streets to let the terrorists have an easy target
So it's not safe enough to protest? Is that their reasoning?

if thats how you faggots see it then all your fascist government needs to do is just detonate another bomb in a crowded area and they hang yous upside down by the balls again?

see how that works?

THEY GOT YOU BY THE BALLS

and keeping the masses in a perpetual state of terror is exactly what those on top want.
>>
>>51421165
Then French need to mobilize; unfortunately that has gotten much harder.
>>
>>51421214
...Yeah?
Any fucker could come and spray bullets. So, they need protection, obviously. And then, other areas are less protected because the police and the military is forced to play baby sitter. Just for a protest.
Having it not allowed is not a problem.
If it is still one or two months from now it will become one.
>>
>>51421312
fascists will remove muslims, they are friends
>>
>>51421401

Well then, good luck france, dont worry, if your fascist thugs screw with the wrong people there, they will send retaliation. :)
>>
>>51421388
>Any fucker could come and spray bullets. So, they need protection
But they aren't being 'protected' because many don't even get the opportunity to protest.

Seems counterintuitive. Someone could spray bullets in 2 years.
>>
>>51421401
>fascists will remove muslims
How?
>>
>>51421504
>But they aren't being 'protected' because many don't even get the opportunity to protest.
What?
Yeah, that's the point, you don't need to protect them because you don't allow people to protest. So you can use your military and police on more urgent matter, like, I don't know, stopping terrorists and making big targets hard to strike?

>Someone could spray bullets in 2 years.
By then we will be way more prepared.
>>
>>51421602
>By then we will be way more prepared.

lol
>>
>>51421602
>that's the point, you don't need to protect them because you don't allow people to protest
Why let people protest at all, ever?

In 2 years how can french authorities stop an attack without emergency powers?
>>
>>51421763
Yeah, I mean, it's true that there is a storm going on, but people should still go out even if they can get killed! Freedom yay!

>In 2 years how can french authorities stop an attack without emergency powers?
Because we adapted to the terrorists instead of just sitting on your ass saying "it will pass, just do everything you please as usual guys"

Like, seriously, you're just searching a way to say "this is bad! we want freedom!"
Since the 13 november there is a lot of soldiers on the street when I go to college.
I don't know anybody who think we're in a dictatorship. We feel protected. And doing a protest, right now, is just proving that you don't care and that your shitty opinions are more important to you than the safety of everyone.

>>51421750
Yeah, because right now we were well prepared. I mean, it's not like the only attack on our soil killed a handful of people and was directed at a well known target, right? We totally saw it coming

What is this meme where we pretend that Western European isn't doing much better than literally all of Eastern Europe in literally every single aspect that is important in judging whether a country is a shithole or developped?
