Only cold countries are allowed to post in this thread (US south of Milwaukee not welcome)
Who is ready for winter? I'm planning on spending it cross country skiing and drinking hot chocolate inside with some comfy movies.
Bumping with pictures of Duluth, Minnesota, one of the coldest cities in the US

Yeah. Michigan here, looking like it's supposed to be above freezing well into December for us.
It was last year too, but then it got colder than the arctic in January. Don't think that will happen this year.

You mean ~36 real degrees, pfft
Since other people are talking about American cities and Memesota, I taught myself something recently: The northernmost state capitals:
1. Juneau, Alaska
2. Olympia, Washington
3. Bismarck, North Dakota
4. Helena, Montana
5. Saint Paul, Minnesota
6. Salem, Oregon.
Salem and St. Paul are effectively parallel (and Salem's city limits extend both a bit further north and south than St Paul's, so it pretty much cancels out), But St Paul's state capitol grounds are unambiguously further north - though not by much, maybe a mile or two.
Of course, these aren't real cities as far as the rest of the world is concerned (or much of America for that matter).
The northernmost "real" American cities are Anchorage, Seattle, and Minneapolis. But Seattle has a warming effect from the ocean so it's not the same. For real cold, stay in Alaska, or the fly-overs - especially here, Minnesota.
I love you winter-chan!

>>51422799
Yeah man, I've lived in Olympia, Washington and eastern Wyoming and let me tell you first hand that latitude ain't erverythang.
In Wyoming, -10C with 15mph winds was the norm, but worse was common too. Fuck my life.

>tfw global warming makes shitty autumn longer and winters boringly mild

>>51423155
I /did/ indicate the interior if you read closely, friend-o, using a term I normally hate just to make sure people got it. And I think ND regularly gets colder than here. Northern Interior North America gets quite cold overall.
But I'm not too impressed by your numbers. After conversion to real degrees, I delivered newspapers in colder stuff as a kid, for years. I'd suit up like an astronaut before going out, layers urrwhere, comfy.
Perhaps El Niño will blunt this, this year? I don't know how the Niño works desu
>>51420851
glad to see im not the only one with fucked up weather
it was 0...-7 in mid october and it was +5 yesterday and raining

I thought the Neenyo only affect the coasts, but eh - I know you weren't ignorant of that fact, but I felt like supplementing your explanation with anecdote.

I know how you feel. Look at this.

We have like 10 cm snow on the ground right now, and I really don't want to see it go.
Comfy thread tbqh.

Aside from Alaska (rightful Canuck clay desu), the Union is "cool" at best.

Yeah, but now that I look at that picture again, I don't remember the lights on the left being green.
How important is skiing for the culture in your country?

I wish I lived in the mountains.
I live right on the Atlantic coasts, temperatures rarely get under 0°C here. We get like one or two days of snow a year, if we're lucky.
