This is our marketplace. It's not the main street in terms of traffic, there is in fact a busy ring road around the historic town center with several main roads extending out of town from it, but it is the central point of the town geographically and culturally as the venue for the majority of public events and farmer's markets. This and looking neat is why I chose it over a photo of some road, also because with a ring road and several extending roads it's hard to identify a main street.

Used to be a beautiful street, but it was sort of ... shortened after being bombed in WWII, and now it looks like pic related: dominated by the car. The end of the street, both ends, actually, witness an enlargment of the road, too, harming the pedestrianisation of the area. A real shame.
The tall building you can just about see in the background is probably the city's main building, its most impressive asset, yet it is on a main road. If this was Germany or Poland or somewhere, such a beautiful building would be on a public square.
