Hello, I am planning on preparing some Russian cuisine for my friends. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should make? I've read some online but I was wondering if there were any Russians out there who had any good input on foods they enjoy or recipes.

Pel'meni were mentioned already. But i have to say that there are very different from chinese analog and have nothing in common with pplish pierogi known in Russia as ukrainian varyeniki. Different receipe, different taste, different shape.
Anon who spent every summer on the countryside here. Make a sbiten for drinking (find out if they have a base in your local Russian stores). Make grechka with mushrooms and sour cream, meat or milk. Make a pike soup. Vinegret for salad. Millet porridge can be great, depends on a quality of your oven (you cook it in a pot which adds too, or in a deep saucer).

Polish and Ukrainian food are similar, but they both taste amazing regardless. Russian food is just...well, I wouldn't seek it out. Hungarian food is the best out of all of them, though. Super hearty and warming.
