I wouldn't go this far but UK is at total odds with EU project and too rich to benefit from the same kind of subsidy other places enjoy. Read any decent book on the EU and you will be amazed at how little influence we've had, what others gained that we haven't.

EU has always been France and Germany and what is essentially France and Germany bribing poor countries into co-operating with them plus european integration totally at odds with democracy.

Our only 'big win' in Europe was the rebate and that was at the cost of agricultural subsidy the rest of EU enjoyed at the time. So we ended up in same position we started in.

They're simultaneously desperate for international approval and companionship but also xenophobic as fuck.

Really? Cause a huge part of the redevelopment fund for my city came from the EU. Plus a lot of new roads over the Hebrides. Insanely nice to cycle on.
