I think because a lot of people here have this need for spirituality. But christianity is too uncool for them, while Islam and Buddhism are hip and you can interpret them as you want because there is no central institution here that can tell you they are wrong.

Those who are completely unreligious just project their need on some other value system, and multi culti is heavily pushed in schools. So they end up with a really screwed and naive view and at the same time are very eager to do something "for a greater good", e.g. helping to fight inequality by letting idiots ruin their country.
