First, Slavery was a bigger deal which impacted their community more.
Second, the Japanese-American community is largely successful, so they inhabit a liminal space where they aren't quite oppressed enough to focus on their victimhood, and they aren't "white" enough to be associated with "whitey". They, like Jews, will take turns in being marginalized and having Power.
Third, Japanese-Americans, like most Asians, are successful, hard workers. There's a very strong communal push to succeed economically, whereas African-American culture denigrates healthy integration, and what constitutes "success" is dropping out of school, making rap music, and scoring drugs. Thus, there's no boogeyman to blame for failures, because there largely aren't any, unlike among the US black community.
