compulsory service for young people, military or otherwise, would be a good idea if it wasn't for the fact that the shitheads who push for it are invariably responding to their own distorted view of what being young or performing a public duty are like. If the intention really was to bulk out the pool of military reserves or clean up every waterway in your country, then the way your conscripts or our "Green Army" would be organised would be completely different.
