Sup, guys? Let's hear a bit about you and see where you've been. If you've never left the country, tell us where you'd like to go or wouldn't.

In my case:

>USA

There isn't anywhere I particularly wouldn't want to go, save for active war zones (Syria would be great, but obviously not right now or any time in the foreseeable future; same for Yemen).

Hard mode: no memes.

Yeah, probably over the summer. One of my friends is in Moldova for two years so I want to visit him there.

Dunno, m8. Nothing against the region. I guess I just don't know enough about to be interested.

Aw shit, just realized I posted the wrong template. Still works, though.

Planning on heading back through China and Japan early next year, as well as S. Korea.

Would love to head back to the US or see Europe one day, but no idea when I'll get around to it.

How's China? I was thinking about heading over that way after visiting my friend in Moldova. Is it a lot more expensive than a cheap country like Thailand?

I thought it was great. Amazing culture, history, food and southern China around Guanxi and Yunnan province has some absolutely amazing scenery. Definitely worth a visit.

>Is it a lot more expensive than a cheap country like Thailand?
Depends on where you are - larger cities like Shanghai and Hong Kong are much more expensive than anywhere I've been in SEA, but outside of the cities it's roughly the same as Thailand.

Thanks, man. How were the people in China? I know that's a very broad question, but I've been to a few places where hospitality towards foreigners was clearly superior than in others.

What was it like to travel to Kazakhstan? Did you find a tour guide? Where did you go? How expensive was it?
>>
>>51035178
>slovenia
what do you expect to find there?
>>
>>51039985

Unfortunately, I spent the fewest days in Kazakhstan of almost any of the countries I've visited. It's not a very expensive place but transportation between cities can be a pain to arrange. The infrastructure isn't very good outside of Almaty and Astana. "Things" aren't expensive but you'd be surprised.

I'd do go back to get a better taste of the country, though. It was very beautiful and I know I missed out on a lot of amazing nature for not having stayed longer.

I didn't get a tour guide. I wasn't there very long and most of my early travels were on a strict budget.

I make more money now and spend more over the road, but I haven't gotten the chance to travel for more than 2+ months since last winter. Most recent trips I've taken were a month in Colombia in August/September and 2 months in India in November/December/January.

Do you travel alone? Do you go places for work or just to explore? How are you able to communicate with people, do you speak other languages? How common is english in Kazakhstan?

Sorry for bombarding you with questions, I have an unquenchable thirst for travel and want to know more about traveling to those obscure countries where very few people have traveled

>he has been to less than 50 countries

Not flag BTW. In fact I'm traveling right now, just passing through here.

Hardly anybody in Kazakhstan spoke English. You'd have to know Kazakh or Russian to get by with most people. People couldn't understand me even in the airport.

And yeah, I always travel by myself. It's very easy to make new friends as long as you're open-minded and not a legitimate autist. My social skills weren't very good before my first trip, but I built up a lot of confidence and have been a lot happier ever since.

I'm still a student. However, I'm lucky to have a decent-paying job as well as a few marketable skills off which I can make god money on the side. While my goal is eventually to find a job which takes me abroad, I go on my own penny and time. What's good for me is that I occasionally get employee referral and hiring bonuses of $1,000 per head, which I usually have paid when I'm on vacation. I'll be in India for a month from mid-December until mid-January, and that money, split up over four weeks, is probably going to cover 80% of my expenses.

And I can read and write Arabic, Hindi, and Serbian (i.e., Cyrillic). I can understand a lot of Hindi and read common Arabic phrases and commands but I'm only fluent in English. Travel often enough or spend time around foreigners and you can usually get the gist of a conversation and learn to express yourself without words.

I'm pretty happy with ~30 at age 22. Plus, I've lived in two and have to pay for all this shit by myself.

Goddamn, how do you get money? I'm a student as well, and excluding India next summer and Argentina for study abroad next year, international travel is absolutely out of the question for me until I get a real job.

I manage a transportation logistics company and also do commercial writing. I made over $2,000 last week, over half of which came from imagining ideas and typing up essays on my laptop. That's not normal for me - sometimes I make more, sometimes I make quite a bit less - but I put a lot of time into my work and don't spend much extra. For instance, I don't think I've gone out to a bar or club once in the last half year, excluding my trip to Colombia. I avoid contractual payment obligations and loans, such as two-year cell phone plans or bundled vehicle insurance. If I don't need it and I can't cancel it without a large buy-out fee or repossessing, I'm not doing it.

Shit, I haven't even bought new clothes since I was 19. But that's what traveling across the developing world is good for! I always get nice shit in India and Colombia for a few dollars per item, and that stuff usually looks good and lasts, too.

I guess I just prioritize traveling and make as many sacrifices as I can. It's worth it to me, in the end.

Budgeting and traveling has helped me with my money management skills, too. I always have a few thousand dollars in the bank, even after trips, because I've learned the consequences of running myself into the ground all too well (i.e., running out of money in India).
