It had already been promised to the Soviets at the Yalta Conference so no point in getting a huge shitton of people killed for something that they would have to immediately give up. Multiple interviews and memoirs of GIs have also indicated that absolutely none of them wanted to go into Berlin and all were thankful that Ike vetoed that idea.
Besides, Eisenhower did keep the Soviets out of certain other places - intelligence services had intercepted Soviet communications indicating that Stalin planned to occupy Denmark so as to give the USSR a foothold on the North Sea, even though Moscow publicly denied such intentions. So instead of going after Berlin, Ike ordered troops to the Baltic coast to block the Red Army from reaching Denmark.
Russia is such an anal pain not because of their powerful projection or because of some aspect of their collective psychology.
It's their endurance and tenacity that makes them a permanent pimple on the west ass.
Those come because of the countries massive resources and Russias massive territory.
