Ok we will build some new architecture, but still I highly doubt that suddenly a lot will change. Europeans are too focused on past.

I love these threads, shame they die quickly.

Here's the very disappointing London walkie talkie sky garden, although it's really just an observation deck with some plants. It has a great view though.

How many of you live in an apartment tower/block, and how much noise do you hear from the other units? I live in a hotel that was converted into apartments. It's a really small bachelor, which I like, with a nice view, but I can hear this constant low murmur from the TVs of my neighbours. It's not very loud, but it's driving me fucking nuts, like a leaky faucet that I have no control over. I'm starting to lose faith in density and cities.

Depends, in older apartment blocks I often heard my neighbours when they walk around if they didn't have a carpet or when they play music but that's about it. In the new apartment blocks the walls are a lot more soundproof so I can't hear them unless if they're screaming

That's what the Stockholm metropolitan area is. But there is only so much you can spread outwards from the city center before it becomes a nuisance for businesses and workers, commuting for over an hour or even two to get to work just isn't feasible.
>>
>>38599092
>How many of you live in an apartment tower/block, and how much noise do you hear from the other units

Had a neighbour that played the drums. He was loud. But this only happened once a week or something.
Had a neigbbour that through parties once every few months. They would go on late into the night, and that was annoying.
Had one neighbour, above me, who kept me up all night screaming at her boyfriend. I barely heard him all night, but she was yelling her tits off.
Currently have a neighbour on my floor who very often arrives back at about 11 to 12ish at night; and he never closes the doors quietly in the hallway, or the front door. That is a bit annoying.

All in all, though, the neighbours are fine.
Much worse is the noise of bikes going past (I live in the city centre, so it is quite busy). Bikers who rev their engines unnecessarily should be shot in the head.

I rather not think about it tbh. They will probably be impressive to look at, but living in some overpolluted and overcrowded city where you can't go out without wearing a mask, can't walk properly in a street because there's just too many people and where basolutely everything you eat or drink will be pretty much poisoned doesn't really sound appealing to me. And i'm not talking about the criminality.
Thed nice building won't make much anyway, since you won't be able to properly see them because of the pollution cloud.

meh, I know that foreigners are often curious about walmarts and our huge shopping malls, but once you've been in one, you've been in all of them. It really just is one big box that looks dumpy from afar.

So an xboxhuege structure like that is cool in theory, but would probably look a lot shittier in real life. And since you're in "the box" you'd rarely have an opportunity to fully take in how expansive and glorious it is compared to a city

I'm certainly not going the one saying that Paris is a nice city to live in, but the all "Paris just rely on the historical buildings" shit really is retarded.Paris is far ahead of Berlin when it comes to modernity and innovation.
The main problem of Paris is that it has grown out of proportion to become some oversized monster, hosting 13 millions people in a 65 millions inhabitants country.

True, but Paris still utterly dominates France. In Germany, there are a fuckton of little regional cultures and dialects

>Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand the old culture in Brittany and the South is pretty much dead and replaced with generic "french" culture
No that's not really true, it's just French people being French, and going full retarded wanting to cut some head off, making big deals over nothing. The regional cultures in Britanny, Corsica, Alsace or Pays basque still are very strong. Some things like the language are declining yes, but this has nothing to do with some parisian masterplan, it's just how the world is going. Globalisation is to blame for that, not Paris or anything else.

I live in a little house but I used to live in flats. One house would have parties that were loud but most were okay. When that one flat had parties I'd just hit the roof with a broom every now and then and get shouted at for it.
