Probably, i, as an hispanophone have no trouble doing just that. I could follow conversations (text) and read entire wikipedia articles and understand 95% of what is written; mind you, only when a traditional or formal lexicon is used, trying to read Brazilian whatsap messages is just about impossible for me.
