They were more benefitial back in the day when there was "no crisis", now they usually work for the cheapest jobs competing with young people. Moroccans mainly leech from the benefits.

The Atlantic way is a long road that goes around the coast of the South to West. It's a real nice drive.
You should go to the burren in Clare and see the caves. Mayo for the cliffs.
I imagine you're starting off in Dublin? You could go to Glendalough and headsouth from there.
