Here's my damage:
I know that people always say the best way to achieve fluency in a language is through practicing every day, no matter what, even if you get sick of it. But what is the best way to practice?
I know that speaking to natives is one way, but what if you don't have that option? I see reading suggested a lot, but what if you come across phrases, idioms, etc that don't come across even when you look up the words in a dictionary? And as far as listening goes, what if you run into things that you just can't figure out? How can you learn from that?
Those have been my two biggest hurdles when it comes to language learning that I've kind of been struggling with for some years now. I have a familiarity with a few languages and can read/speak/write them to varying degrees but I've never achieved anything even close to the capability that, say, many of the non-native English communicators here have, and I don't know how to overcome the obstacles in my way.

Memrise or Anki for vocabulary. It's good to do grammar and other things every day but it's absolutely necessary to keep learning or remembering words everyday. Words are everything and modern flash card programs are a fucking luxury people 50 years ago wish they had.
