I kind of like these noir-ish ones, especially with a modern twist. Is there any way of finding the names of art styles?

It's called the "graphic design application portfolio" style.

As others said, this is indicating shapes by not drawing them, WWF logo is a famous example of that (the one with panda). In the words of /gd/ it's part of gestalt psychology, Prägnanz, Law of Closure.

Generally it's good to get into graphic design if you want to be a better painter.
Recommendations: "Universal Principles of Design" by William Lidwell, both book and his short videos.
