What are the benefits of a light box? Are they meant exclusive for tracing? The lighting in my room kinda sucks so I have been considering buying one, but not sure where to start as far as specs go. Can anyone recommend a decent, cheap-ish one? Recommendations for a scanner would also be nice. Thank you.
They're used for cleaning up rough sketches and in-betweening animation. Vital of you're doing traditional animation, but not really important for anything else.
