How do I induce a "paranoiac critical" state? For those who might not know, it is a method used by Salvador Dali when he made some of his most famous works of art. From the state of mind of total paranoia and fear, was he able to hallucinate and conflate completely random and dissimilar objects into striking visuals.

I already have a bit of a process thought up, but I don't know if this is any good
What I plan to do is to put myself in pure darkness, either by doing this at night, or using a blindfold. I will then listen to only the most horrifying, spine chilling music, and I will try to let unpleasant and fearful thoughts take hold in my mind.
I am not exactly sure if this would give the same results, though, or if it would actually benefit my artistic process rather than being a major threat to my sanity.

hypothetically, yes
this is more about getting the spark of inspiration rather than asking about how to get better. I can only get better if I create, and I can only create if I have thunderous inspiration.

It's completely up to you how crucial inspiration is for you to create. There is no right or wrong.
