well thats the thing about that guys work, its riding the fence between uncanny valley and actual places that are generic.
whats so powerful about them is that they could exist anywhere, the architecture style is all over the place with no real bearing.
the slight perceptive flaws (purposeful) only add to the dream like view, these are imo the best "scary" paintings ever created purely because they maintain the possibility of anything happening within them, they have no real direction, leaving the viewer even more confused.
basically paintings like >>2541836 are an ocd's worst nightmare. warped door frames handles non-marching, doors themselves of different make, doors left open, and again, perspective flaws that further throw you off. these two paintings plus a few others are the meaning of "uneasy".
there was a thread about a year ago that went into more depth about why people get haunted via these two paintings.
pic related is one of the artists best "spooky mundane" paintings imo.

As someone who had major surgery and had to be conscious through the whole thing, this is terrifying, it's all so sterile, alien, you don't feel pain but can still hear bone cracking and tools pushing and cutting through flesh, I can't explain it.

What's scary for you and scary for others are going to be different, this is true for 98% of people. Take clowns for example; I love clowns, especially unconventional and creepy looking ones. Obviously my opinion isn't the popular one, and most are frightened by them. Even the normal cheery ones.
I actually agree that there's nothing scary about women covered in blood, or those ones with the little girls. People who are afraid of those things are most likely afraid of them because women and little girls and such are supposed to be 'innocent' and generally harmless, but when you switch the roles around it becomes unsettling; I imagine it's probably related to how some people (men and women) get insecure/scared/uncomfortable when they see a powerful or successful woman taking on a role they're not usually supposed to for the sEttinger they're in. Mix that with some psychobabble bullshit about fear of the unknown and you have 'scary'.
The fact that you're gay probably makes you see women in your life a different way than a man who's not, because women take up a different category in your mind. Since this is an anonymous image board that isn't /b/, we don't even know what gender half of the posters are in here, so stop jumping to conclusions and post some scary shit, yo.
