No, Nosebro, the good thing about having an anonymous board is so other people can read what you are saying and judge it objectively, without the bias of knowing who said it. Meaning, people may not like you, you may be an idiot with shit furry art, but if you post a valid critique, or, let's say, a funny screencap anonymously, people will judge them on their own merits. Instead, since nobody seems to like you, people simply see your name and dismiss it completely.
The opposite is also true, people may suck up and give too much credit to good artist, or a charismatic member's opinions, even if they give a shitty critique that overshadows a good one.
People here are interested in honest opinions, nobody needs to get recognition by name only, or to be circlejerked, like what happens on every other forum. Don't fool yourself, you are not more corageous than any of us. You are not putting yourself out there like you think you are, you are still just another fat loser behind a computer screen talking shit anonymously like everyone else. You don't use a nickname to own up to your opinions, no, you want some sort of fame for your "contributions" to this community, you want people to see how funny you are in your screencaps. You can't live with the fact that you may say something really helpful, or really funny and people will never give you the recognition you feel you deserve, you just don't want to blend in with the other anonymous people who say helpful or funny stuff every day on this board, only to get a momentaneous praise and disappear again into the crowd of nameless people.

this is mostly opinion based, I can definitely see what you mean. But I really do feel as though anonymity is not the all too courageous stance you pretend it is. Plus, with peoples art its not even possible to be anonymous. If you just look at HOW people use their anonymity ( to shit post, insult, samefag) I really do feel as though my side is more justified.

Yes, obviously you can be recognized by your art, but unless you post a drawing alongside every reply, you can easily pass as just another anon. That's what we want, to be recognized by our work, not our personal opinions.
Also, I never said posting without a name was courageous. I said being an anonymous forum helps to have unbiased interactions that are pretty important when giving/receiving criticism, and better yet, it prevents ad hominem attacks when arguing anything else.
Then again, maybe the whole problem is that you are on the wrong forum. I for example, prefer people shitposting and being overly rude to people walking on eggshells to not offend anyone, taking sides on arguments based on the popularity of the members, ignoring you because they think you aren't good enough/popular enough, and circlejerk in general. To me the advantages of having an anonymous board for art far outweights the that of a normal forum.
In any case, my point still stands, you want to pretend you have a nickname because you are courageous while we are cowards hiding in anonimity, but the truth is that you just want to be recognized by what you post, you want attention and internet fame for the contributions you deem more important than they actually are. I feel like I covered this already. Names make it harder to samefag, they can prevent insults, sure, but having a name makes it harder to have objective discussions and all that. Also, not knowing who is who is way more fun. You will never have to deal with being the newbie, it doesn't matter if you have been here for one month or six years, if you are here, you are part of the group. Just look at how people tend to segregate in normal forums, you always have the "elite" who are usualy the mods, then people who suck up to them and to eachother in a big circlejerk, then there are the newbies nobody respects. I started lurking the webcomic thread on /co/ a few months ago, have been posting there for only a week or so, yet I already feel like I am part of the group, and that's what is beautiful about 4chan.
