Anyone else love this 80s/90s retro style of fantasy art?

Something just nostalgic about it. It's awesome.

It reminds me of a time where people didn't care about being objectified or stereotyped. It allowed artists to create heroic men and sexy women in crazy fantasical environments and people just loved how awesome it was.

Nowadays you make a girl with large boobs and ass with a thin waist and you get hambeasts charging at you with their forks from dinner time.

Who the fuck wants the hero of a story to be some fatass when you can have an actual hero look fucking ripped and stand 9 heads tall.

Every creative/social movement is a reaction to the one preceding it.

What's the reaction gonna be from this one?

Hard to predict these sort of things as you're living in it.

Anything in particular?

Personally I think one of the more interesting art history reactions was Abstract Expressionism. I'm not a fan of the movement myself, however it was a reaction to the movements that came out of the Great Depression, most notably Social Realism. It's fun sometimes to read up on history and trace the lines of the event/movement -> reaction.

Personally I hope representational art gets a larger following and the expressionist trash withers away.

I always thought it was boring

I almost thought that was Frazetta because of the face. The aesthetic was nice but it got old and samey pretty quickly

I enjoy it immensely, along with fantasy airbrush work.

I wish that I had kept up with airbrushing in highschool instead of being a lazy unmotivated piece of shit and do something like OPs picture in 80's neon metal.
