Any printmakers here? Litho, relief, screen, ect.?
I'd like to see either some artists you like or maybe your own work you've done.

I concentrated in printmaking in college, but haven't pulled a print in years.

These are relief, sintra-cuts, about 3' square, on tea-stained paper.

yes its a mono print with lino ink mixed with black acrylic. brush is a 2 sided skewer with one side sporting a cigarette filter that has been tattered.
>trade secret, those things are fucking amazing and dead cheap, 2 bucks gets you almost 50 filters.
I have a blog but its mostly digital stuff.

>nice lino cut btw

>pic related, more on subject prints.

So if i'm a complete noob, but want to start printmaking because i think it's amazing where do i start? Where can i buy materials? At a normal art store? Also with which printmaking technique should i start first, because i'm watching videos and researching right now and some of these guys are using machines and shit. Links will also be helpful, but whatever.

>Where can i buy materials? At a normal art store?
Yes. Hobby chain stores (hobby lobby, michaels) won't have much, but actual art supply stores should have the basics. order online if not.
> Also with which printmaking technique should i start first
classes usually start with monotypes and relief printing. if you print relief (woodblock, lino) with rice paper and a wooden spoon, you won't need a press, otherwise you'll need to find a printmakers collaborative near you.

i made that simple woodblock to create "clay block" prints. end result are tablets that look ancient as fuck.
>>
>>2364521
Noice. Maybe one day I'll get that fast. The carving process takes forever for me.
>>
>>2367899
try softer wood, it really shouldn't take much unless you're going overboard with details
>>
My question is why would you make a print of something you drew in 20 seconds?

Did this too. Hard lino
>>
>>2369751
anything really, its a very expansive subject, i would recommend keeping it simple when you start, something such as lino cut, as it replicated woodblock but in a way that is easier to print and physically cut.
its also cheaper as one does not need to buy wood and one also does not need expensive cutting blades, cheap lino and cheap blades will do.

honestly its probably worth going to your local art store/college and seeing if they do evening courses, having a press and heater and etc on hand will make your life so much easier
