The time it takes to upload one's reference folder is a fraction of what it takes to collect it, and if more than one person does it you get a large collection.

That, too. Ideally, the pauldrons would be the same both sides but ones of those size reduce backwards movement (which isn't needed so much with a shield).
So, seeing as most people were right-handed and those who weren't were made to switch, they heavily armoured the left side, where strikes are more likely to come from, at the cost of dexterity - and left the right arm free to move at the cost of a little protection but not much greater risk.
If I managed to make that make any sense whatsoever in my sleep-deprived state.

Only look up reference as and when you need it, or ideally shoot your own.
Have an idea of what you want to do first and then look up what you need to execute it accurately. It's a much better way to work and will actually get you to use your imagination and brain, before having to flesh out the details with reference.
It's a waste of time endlessly collecting pictures and adding to a folder just in case the image might be useful in future. 99% of everything you collect this way I guarantee you'll never look at again. It also never has a cut off point. In theory you could just sit collecting "useful" pics forever.
It's a really easy way to procrastinate, yet still convince yourself you are actually doing something.
