Hello everyone

I'm not either of the prior anons but i'd say don't jump right into the submissive sex part as soon as you meet. feel the guy out, make sure you're comfortable, have a conversation. make sure he is going to respect your safe word or other limits as you assert them because otherwise you're actually in a dangerous situation. you can't gather all that just through text conversations.
now if you go through that and are comfortable if the guy is any good, if you're new he'll ease you into things versus expecting you to take whatever, which really isn't reasonable for someone who's never done it before

Just be VERY CAREFUL letting yourself get into a position where you are helpless, with a stranger.
I have subbed for several men, sometimes I can tell they aren't in it and are just "humoring" me and it's kinda "meh", but once I met a "real" Leather Master who, even though we discussed in advanced that I didn't have tons of experience in it and am not into pain, kept pushing the envelope and doing things that went a little too far, and it lost its eroticism for me. But, OTOH his sadism "needed" a certain degree of pain on my part and our goals just wseren't in synch. BUT--set ground rules, tell him what your HARD LIMITS are, and also tell him that the first time, it should be a little more "JV" because you need to trust him and he needs to trust you, so you will not allow yourself to be tied up or otherwise seriously compromised (you can still play bondage with "imaginary ropes"). Also DO NOT let them take photos of you because you never know where they could end up.
TL;DR--set limits and be sure you trust that he will stick to them. Go easy on the S&M stuff the first time and make sure it's what you really want before letting him go farther (typically, each session is more intense than the previous, in the early sessions, if he is doing his part right).
Also leave a written record somewhere of where you are going if you go to his house, just as insurance (people should do this for any online hookup, frankly).
