Post your rare Mcbrides
why do people always describe barbarian warriors either completely clad in metal or almost naked?
>>995701

Surely the best way to live when this is steaming towards you is to dive onto your front between the two middle horses and pray it doesn't turn??
>>996218
No. You laugh your ass off as it gets stuck on something long, long before it reaches you.
Does anyone have any illustrations from these: http://www.bedetheque.com/serie-12710-BD-Vie-privee-des-Hommes.html?
I have ten of these and I used to read them all the time as a kid. I looked them up and supposedly, 34 books exist in French.
>>995769
Define "barbarians".
If it's just "not Romans or Greeks", that's a large group.
>>995701
I've got a handful of these
>>996528
Where did u get them?
>>996548
Some torrent years and years ago
I'll dump some stuff at random, aiming for weird interesting
>>996565
This covers a very broad range of stuff
Did the people in ancient times really rolled around barefoot?
Great job dumping by the way, you guys are doing gods work.
Well Javelinmen and Sneior Ranks of unidentified units did, but Allied Greek Infantrymen had sandals.

What's with the lizard on a rope?
>>996602
Grappling lizard.

why not? shoes cost money and if you're used to it it's not really a big deal. even my grandma said that when they were kids their mother just coated their feet with thick layer of pine tar at spring so they got more used to it as it was wearing off so they didn't have to wear any shoes for the whole summer.
>>996608
Huh, interesting stuff. Thanks for the answer.

> "The horseman on the white horse was clad in a showy and barbarous attire. [...] While his horse continued galloping, he was bending his bow in order to spread pestilence abroad. At his back swung the brass quiver filled with poisoned arrows, containing the germs of all diseases."

It saddens me that the no.15 helmet which has the raddest and most classic design is the most ineffective and crappy helmet of all of them.

none of them are holding the reins?

>Spanish Musketeer c.1700
>Portuguese Cavalry c.1700
I've always loved this one
What's with everyone in antiquity having long hair, isn't it more practical to shave your head so it doesn't cause you trouble in battle.
>>998224
barbarians like to look nice fám, I remember reading of Arab emissaries and travellers commenting on the Rhos who had shite hygiene in general but always cleaned and combed their hair

Is that man wearing heels
Why
>>1001136
heels were worn by men before they were by women
>>1001136
He is part of the cavalry. He use the heels for his stirrup.
>>996135
Wait, did legionaries wear coifs? It's weird to see them so early.
>>996565
>the Greeks look like Irish

>>1002714
And for those who want the clean version.
>>1002574
That looks Sarmatian, the coif, which in 243 AD it could be and that "legionary" may well be Sarmatian.

why is the shield curved?
>>1007526
Maybe it's intended to divert the attacks towards the centre of the shield instead of the edges where they might actually hit the guy.
>>1007526
To deflect attacks from other mounted knights
>>996122
>mfw mounted archers
>>997769
It was pretty good for it's purpose of being worn over a bascinet during a cavalry charge. After the charge or if you needed to dismount and function as heavy infantry you could just take it off for more visibility and air flow.
In fact some museum survivals have retention chains for quickly throwing it on and off without discarding it.
