you will never immigrate to tsarist Russia and become the great statesman who saves it
>>
>>978244

>you will never become a benevolent dictator who leads his country to a golden age
>you will never uplift your countrymen to greatness and build an educated citizenry who need not be cowed by corporate interests or demagogues
>you will never reject rampant capitalism and stagnant socialist policy alike in favor of a third path which espouses the virtues of the material and spiritual alike
>you will never pass off the reins to a worthy heir, chosen by you with the blessing of your people
>you will never set the foundations to gradually cede power to the educated populace who might one day master their own destiny
>you will never go down in history as a controversial figure, a tyrant and beloved ruler both as you bring your own nation and the nations around you to prosperity untold
>tfw your ambitions are too great for your feeble hands
>tfw you will always be mediocre

A curse on God for giving a sheep like me the dreams of a lion.

I would say the Roman Empire was the best as far as longevity goes. The USSR did accomplish a lot but they got cucked by the moon landing and the fact that Communism will never work. They were better off with their monarchy. I'd say the British Empire had a bigger influence as an Empire. They set up the precedent of English being the choice international language on top of cucking countless colonies.

>IMO, no
>>
>>978193
The fact that a society that claimed to be communist can be described as an empire probably tells you all you need to know.

The average Soviet had less bread than an Irishman had potatoes during the famine.

I was born in Yugoslavia in 1990, as a kid I remember people destroying socialist images, structures, and monuments. Leaving when I was 6, I still remember the post-socialist area I grew up in and the turmoil it descended to. Of coarse, Yugoslavian socialism ended due to war, but I know that when a socialist society convert to a market society it gets difficult fo people to adapt. I hear Soviet people give mixed opinions, a Lithuanian co-worker said it was the most awful nation to exist, and an Azerbaijani, of whom's blog I read once, called it one of the best. I say the USSR's advantages was that it bought ethnicities together somewhat peacefully, something Yugoslavia failed to do. It tried many new ideas and changed the way many people lived. I mean, the USSR killed millions of innocent people,, but a majority of countries with that power, and many that were smaller than it, have. Really, the only reasons for the counter-cultured 4chan hates it is because edgy teens love it and Nazis fought them. I mean, do you really think the most pro-nazi site outside of literal stormfront forums really give a shit about human rights?
TL;DR, no, but it's not as bad as people say it is.

I don't really dislike the Soviet Union, I love Russia too much to do so. What I do despise is communism and how it destroyed Imperial Russia. I know Imperial Russia needed to change, but ffs communism was not the answer.

It's hilarious watching all of you defend Tsarist Russia, an empire known for being poor, corrupt, ass-backward, inefficient, violent, and repressive even under it's best monarchs, or the Soviet Union, an empire known for genocide, cultural irrelevance, and destroying the economic growth of half of Europe.

Andropov/Chernenko

Gorbavhev
>the perestroika enforced a cargo cult upon the average russian in which he believed that anything american or western was superior to anything russian produced, be it shitty Rambo movies or second-hand tracksuits, and the glasnost popularized the belief that life in the Soviet Union was not as spotless as it seemed to be and that chernukha was the norm among the russian common class, eventually dissolve the Union altogether
Brezhnev was the beginning of the fall of the Soviet Union.

They don't. Russian public opinion is too complex and differs from one man to another.
Hated towards soviet period is common for mass-culture since the later half of the 80s and until now with little exceptions such as WW2 and soviet space program.

Reality check incoming.

Imperial equivalent of the Soviet apartment block would be picrelated. Not cherry-picked palaces and temples.

And I'm not sure what Basil's Cathedral has to do with anything. It was built before Romanov's dynasty - in 16th centurty.

Commies explicitly eschewed political assassinations as a tool.

"We will use the other way" (c) Lenin

> Russians hate socialism/communism.
Majority supports it.

In fact, since the early 90s support for socialism has been steadily rising despite all efforts by the government (modern Russian history books for children are something like 90% Cold War anti-Soviet propaganda).

Political assassinations aka "Individual terror" was the part of bolshevik tactics, yet it never was the main way of doing things.
Individual terror was popular among Social-Revolutionaires (ПCP, esers), who were the non-marxist socialists developed from Narodnaya Volya and similar movements.

>>
>>982403
Bolsheviks have been killing members of Black Hundreds and certain officials.
Also there were some acts of cooperation between bolsheviks and Battle Group of esers, for example 16-pound bombs made by Krasin have been used by maximalist esers during the assassination attempt on Stolypin in 1906.

But, again, individual terror wasn't the real way of doing things. Bolsheviks wanted a revolution, and revolution cannot be achieved by killing certain individuals.
