In all honesty, just go into it expecting a fantasy series based on real-world (still largely) mythological or unclear events, with scatterings of actual happenings (although still out of sequence/a lot of licence). It's not a documentary. Look for inaccuracies and you'll sit there all day reeling them off. Try to enjoy it as a fantasy story and it's quite good.
