Any historic tidbits anyone has to share about this area? Feel like it was just another island vikings fucked.

Got a few mates from Shetland, was up there a couple of weeks ago for one of the regional Up Helly Aa's. Torching a longship is great fun, even if Up Helly Aa is totally ahistorical
