Basically the same, except instead of a Shia-Sunni divide there'd be a Christian-Zoroastrian divide, and Arabic wouldn't be a Lingua Franca in the area.
It wouldn't be much more of a beacon, but it wouldn't be such a butthurt shithole and it would accept Westernisation more smoothly, like China or India.
