What if new u.s. government undermines necessity of NATO and because of it stability and legitimacy of transatlantic alliance become a question?
Can it weaken the U.S. influence on mainland Europe and cause disruption on long European peace or will it cause a power vacuum which could further destabilize eastern europe and balkans?

NATO is too entrenched in western Europe. Trying to dismantle it or move it would be too much trouble. I remember talk that they were thinking of moving SHAPE to Poland so that the military headquarters could be closer to Russia, the eastern bloc countries, and the Middle East. I don't think that's ever going to happen even though SHAPE's location was only going to be temporary.
NATO will always exist so long as Russia exists, OP. It is and always has been an alliance against Russia.
What does this thread have to do with /his/?
It has to do with current events which will be history soon. When U.S. decides to start WW3?
