Well Europeans did leave some infrastructure behind (railways, harbors and such) but because Europeans left such a mess of government behind there was no one to take care of those.

Africa and Africans suffered massively in the short term. Essentially every African polity was destroyed, and many indigenous institutions and cultural practices were disrupted by violence or banned by colonizers. The generally careless extraction and of resources has left ecological scars across the continent, which will impede economic development in the long run. The short-term effects of colonialism in Africa can hardly be exaggerated.

Some were warlike, sure, but let's not pretend European nations didn't have their share of violent shitshows in the 18th and 19th century. Yes. Africa from the 60s up until the early 80s was a nightmare, as various civil and interstate conflicts emerged out of the sudden departure of European power. Oftentimes, a certain ethnic or political group would resort to civic violence to seize power. In other times, one ethnic group would seek to form their own state. Nigeria as we know it began its history through violently defending its structural integrity against the Biafran rebels.
A better question would be, "is Africa now more violent than it was in 1750?" I'd guess not, but that's true of essentially every part of the world.
