I have no fucking clue what is going on with OP, but rather than start my own thread, I'll ask it here.
What are some good books to get me started on taoism? Ive read so many reviews of translations and what not that I dont know who to listen to.

There are a lot of translations.
A lot of excellent ones, and some terrible ones.
My recommendation is Charles Muller with Introduction and Notes by Yi-Ping Ong.

mitchell is the most accesible translation
the one by feng and jane english from the 90s is also acceptable. as are versions by 'red pine', or 'ursula le guin'.

Tao Te Ching. Zhuangzi, and the I Ching are all you need. Pick up a good translation of The Journey to the West to get the basics of their mythology if you want to dive into that.
