What would the Americas look like today if the Spanish Conquest never occurred?

Is this the most needless genocide of an empire in human history?

What would the changes be?
A non-discovery of America?
The Spaniards failing with their attack?
THe Spaniards or any other European power allying with the Aztecs?

All of the americas would be speaking english or/and french/dutch.
It would be a much better and developed place.

The modern world likely wouldn't exist without several civilizations biting the dust and feeding the progress of European states. The enlightenment, industrial era, the scientific revolution, all might not have happened if a tremendous amount of resources hadn't flooded into the western world in the early modern era. Is it regrettable? Probably. But it certainly shouldn't be seen as needless.

>What would the changes be?
One of the most interesting would be how the industries in Europe evolved without the surplus of currency. However, it's already hard to tell the precise influence in the market to speculate what would have hapened otherwise.

>A non-discovery of America?
It seems that was a matter of time to be explored by the Portuguese.

>The Spaniards failing with their attack?
If given more time perhaps the Aztecs would have eventually adopted the foreign weapons as the Incas did, perhaps even right after the siege some Spaniards would end up showing them how to produce them. Nevertheless, it certainly would been hard to match the production rates of Europe.

>THe Spaniards or any other European power allying with the Aztecs?
Unless the Aztecs would have reformed their religion it was unlikely to happen.

Eh, France, the foremost daugther of the Vatican, purest Catholic, defender of the faith, etc etc, allied a lot with noncatholic enemies of their catholic enemies.
They were ready to ally with anyone.

Colonies may have sped up the process a little, but I think it was inevitable and desirable.

I think North America is in an ideal place for industry and had native americans developed on their own they would have probably adopted European technology like the Japanese did.

However it would not be without brutality and suffering, before universal democracy sets in, those states with access to technology will begin annexing territory and warring with each other.

Eurasian diseases via animals would have inevitably effected them from contact with outsiders no matter how much they may have progressed without the ambitions of conquest from others. The societies would have collapsed and áreas depopulated. The question would be if they had enough time to bounce back before any ambitions of colonialism would return from some other power. It's hard to speculate, there's too many variables to consider.

It's posible that would have happened who knows. There were likely different schools of thought and philosophy among the Aztecs. I know Quetzalcóatl supposedly did not like human sacrifices and Nezahualcóyotl, the Texcoco ruler banned it in some áreas. Also Aztecs were not the only ones doing the sacrificing over there.

SMALL POX FTW

OP the answer is:

THEY ALL WOULD HAVE DIED ANYWAY
>>

>implying murder and enslavement is OK if people would have died anyways

We all die anyways.

Aztecs were almost asking to be genocided, brah. Nobody is going to willingly live in a continent with some fuckers who sacrifice 72 people daily and wage wars exclusively to capture more sacrifices.

He isn't saying anything of that.
