The Penguin History of the World
I just finished O'Brian's The Nutmeg of Consolation and started The Fatal Shore by Robert Hughes.
Funnily enough, I was toying with the idea of picking up the latter when the foreword in the former mentioned getting valuable information from it, so I took it as a sign.
Blood meridian, pretty good so far but a tad confusing at times.

I'm reading the George Rowlinson translation of Herodotus' Histories, and then afterwards The Portable Greek Historians by M. I. Finsley, then I'm probably gonna reread Histories. If you couldn't tell, I'm writing a short (10 page?) essay on Herodotus' writing style and the way historical recording has changed since.
