I thought the whole situation was pretty hilarious, especially how the majority of their rebuttal speeches were about how 'this was the exception that proved the rule' but my partner was pissed off and wanted to get them disqualified even though they (obviously) lost the round and every other round they went into. Kind of a surreal way to end the night, that was for sure.

What happens if you try to teach people the Overman in debates? You'd think in such a self-proclaimed 'scientific age' the will to power and eternal recurrence would be common knowledge, not to mention the history of morality. These are pretty essential to a field where ethics, aesthetics, or naturalism decides the winner.

Policy debate is fucking retarded as it encourages spreading in its modern form. Spreading is not a skill, it is a bad habit. One that needs to be broken. Policy might actually be tolerable without it. Then we just have to deal with the fact that most arguments become circular in policy.

Did one of those classroom debates in a politics class where we read John Locke and that other guy who wrote the Leviathan. Me and my team had to argue the Leviathan point of view that there is no right to rebel, while the John Locke team argued for it. All they did was quote John Locke without any substance. We started our opening statements with historical facts backing us up. I was very surprised to have won
