okay, /his/, i need help. I am in denial of religion, but i feel i must belong to a group. suggest me some religions, /his/
>>

What is wrong with atheism? There mere fact that there are so many religions with so many die hard believers all claiming their god 'the true god' is what keeps me from ever believing
>>
you could always worship mars
>>
>>700247
ive actually been trying atheism, but it feels so weird. i was christian for the longest time, then i tried paganism, but now, idk what to beleive
>>
>>700210
>but it feels so weird.
Why? Replace your Sunday church with a sleep in and pancakes, a weekly morning hike, a reading session, meditation, whatever you want

Look into Buddhism. Some people argue it's more of a philosophy and way of life than it is a straight up religion, and its methodology is very logical and knowledge-oriented, but it still has a lot of transcendental elements to it that differ it from mere empirical materialism.

Plus it's not an "either or" religion, you can practice or not practice it as much as you like. The only criteria for "following" it is if you personally get something out of it, which a lot of spiritual seekers do.

t. Buddhist
>>
>>700271
i'll look at it. i was thinking about buddhism or taoism for a bit
>>
>>700269
I think it's just your change in routine; I'd never been to a church until I was 17 and went a few times out of respect for my room mate. I felt awkward as hell, it's such a radical change in lifestyle and it's probably something you should explore outside of 4chan before making any decisions
>>
>>700276
i didn't go to church until i was 9 y/o, and it was actually pretty chill, but i stopped going soon after
>>
>>700279
May I ask in what way you currently practice your religion?
>>
>>700289
i don't currently practice religion, because i have no faith;for faith is what i am seeking
>>
>>700292
I too have looked for faith but have not found any yet. Good luck on your search anon
>>
>>700295
thank you, kind sir
>>
>>700210
You dont have to belong to a group.
You dont have to be an athiest either.
You just question and follow the teachings of whoever gives you the most satisfacting answers of your questions, be it a book, a human or ever multiple combination of both.
Thats how eastern societies and religions like hinduism and buddhism worked in the past
>>
>>700210
hahaha wtf, whose religious symbol is the fucking iron cross?
>>
>>700210
See if you have a Unitarian Universalist congregation near you. No real dogma to swallow other than letting people figure out religion and the divine for themselves. There are plenty of atheists and agnostics involved in UU churches.
>>
>>700210
You ought to get involved in your community, go outside a bit, attend some local attractions. It helped me fill that void when I needed it.
>>
>i feel i must belong to a group

Why?
>>
>>700853
i don't want to be alone. i go to a christian school, but don't beleive any of it
>>
>>700853
i feel there needs to be a certain amount of brotherhood in a religion
>>
>>700798
whats unitarian universalist? heard of it, never looked into it
>>
>>700257
Then be Christian, You clearly desire some kind of spiritual connection, and you are already familiar with that culture.
>>
>>701492
no, i don't. i left the church for a reason
>>
>>700210

If you feel a need to belong to a group, join a country club. You shouldn't be picking a religion based on a need to feel included, you should be picking it based on belief.
>>
>>701502
well, i want to more identify as something
>>
i dont understand the need to identify as something, i go my day to day just fine not even thinking about religions or god or anything. im not saying im athiest, i just dont really give a shit. beliefs and all that are a lot of stuff to get worked up about, if you need to follow something, follow something you think is cool, not something that "must be correct" or along those lines. have fun with it
>>
>>700210
read these with an open heart and pray for truth.
>>
>>701522
Freemasons?
>>
As a Buddhist I feel obligated to tell you to look into that, but if you're following something for companionship instead of having actual faith in the teachings, then it doesn't really matter.
>>
>>702485
i'll try it. thank you
>>
>>700210
just go out and make real friends dick
>>
>>700210

Make your own cult. It's all the fun of organized group religion with significantly more sex from your congregation.
>>
>>700268

>Buddhism as practice by White people

The fuck is this supposed to mean? Mysticism removed from the philosophical precepts underlying them? Kind of a dickish generalization.
>>
>>700555

Not OP, but frankly, 'belonging to a group' is a bigger draw for me than any spiritual answer I might find with organized religion. That probably sounds petty, but I'm not going to deny it.
>>
>>700210
Get friends.
Get a routine.
Possibly engage in this routine with your friends.
Consume large quantities of placebos whenever you feel down or ill.

Congratulations, you have replicated the main appeals of organized religion.

what about "belonging to"(forcing yourself into, really) a group is appealing to you?
>>
>>700210
Look up Confucianism.

It's like atheism but it believes that divine beings do exist.
>>
>>700210
I might be Muslim because I want a loyal virgin waifu and they despite degenerate Western culture too.

Also, if any Liberal attacks me, I can always pull the Muslim card.

Kek Taoism is like Shintoism. A White guy practicing Taoism is just funny.

Asian here
>>
>>705306
Not memeing, give Zen Buddhism a try. It's far more spiritual and is inwardly focused more than anything, not as much of an overriding institution to muck it all up
>>
>>705388
>Kek Taoism is like Shintoism. A White guy practicing Taoism is just funny.
It really is. When I hear people say "I like taoism" they don't really mean that. They think they do, but once they realize what Dao is, they cringe
>>
>>700210

If you just want to be in a secret club with rituals and shit, just go to the Masons. You might actually get a discount on some plumbing work out of it.
