Why are hipsters converting to Christianity now?
>>589100
Pure Contrarianism
1. they aren't strong
2. they wanna be reactionary without imperialistic beliefs
But why not convert to Nation of Islam or some shit?
>>589100
Got any proof of that besides a bicycle?
>weakness
>contrarianism
>searching for identity
>trying to cultivate a "reactionary" persona
Take your pick
>>589104
This, plain and simple. They want to be cool and deep so they pick up the bible while their parents and friends wonder what the fuck they're doing.
It's mainly the populist right, like /pol/.
>>589283
this
I know some young 'hip' people that hang out in coffee shops and go to churches with names like 'Arise' or some shit, but they're not hipsters, they're just squares latching onto the hipster image.
>>589325
>they're just squares latching onto the hipster image.
Isn't this essentially what a hipster is?
>>589100
atheism/non religiousness in general is pretty mainstream now.
>>589100
Contrarianism since all their peers are atheists.
Also Christianity fits pretty nicely in SJW politics.
I also imagine the aesthetic has a bit to do with it.
>>589123
Because hipsters are white.
>>589327
I mean I guess, but they literally only have the style of dress. Like, they look mildly vintage and the guys wear boots. They're still socially conservative and don't listen to good music or anything. They're not what I call hipsters, they're just dressing and acting in a way that's slightly forward-thinking but generally safe. They're mostly too young to actually be hipsters.
>>589335
>Christianity fits pretty nicely in SJW politics.
I'm angry at you now.
>>589100
I feel like it's only militant hipsters that are trying too hard, but I guess that's most of them. The hipsters I know have the most edgy views on Christianity to the point where it's saddening.
>>589354
I didn't mean to make you mad, I'm just saying how I see it.
>>589335
I could understand the similarities but being Christian seems like one of the most taboo viewpoints in SJW minds.
>>589365
SJW's are okay with Christians. As long as you're a SJW first and a Christian second, otherwise for all they care you're a fundamentalist.
>>589365
How so? love thy neighbour etc. sounds pretty social justice warrior. especially for people who could be happy to mix and match points from whichever source they preferred.
>>589354
How *doesn't* it fit into SJW politics?
>>589365
Outside of /pol/ Christians seem to be very supportive of migrants
>>589100
Take a look at this picture and form your own conclusion, it wont take long
>>589365
You people constantly make the mistake of believing /pol/'s exagerrations. Outside of the internet people behave quite differently. I know countless christian hipsters and SJW's
I do it just to shitpost like everyone else
>>589365
Since when?
Christians even led the civil rights movement
>>590186
Deus vult faggot
>>589395
>Christian seem to be very supportive of muslims
Saving pic for future /n/ trolling.
>>589105
>2. they wanna be reactionary without imperialistic beliefs
this
>>590457
You are correct. All the young christians I know are also interested about Islam
>>589104
pure ideology *sniff*
>>589100
Because nihilism gets boring after awhile.
Believe it or not, it all started with those 40k autists and their >muh heresy meme. It quickly moved from nerds and their 40k to /pol/ hipsters and the Catholic church. It's all a big ERP circlejerk.
>>590632
>>590606
This sounds very similar to what a friend of mine is going through at the moment.
>>589379
>homosexual acts are grave sins
>abortion is murder
Sounds pretty SJW to me.
>>589100
Pretty standard reaction. Swings and roundabouts.
Atheism becomes cool so 'cool' people become religious. Religion becomes cool, so 'cool' people become atheists.
This cycle goes back centuries.
