I'm going to go ahead and say that honor belongs to a Nimitz-class supercarrier.

i'm going to go with he meant melee weapon, but in any other cases you'd probably be right.

wasn't there this frisian dude who had like a 7 foot sword
>>
>>520733
Yeah, that seems about right.

But more in line with the spirit of OP's question I'd have to say the Kanabō might take the cake; IIRC the largest one is something like 5'6" and weighs ~35lb.

Those fucklong pikes used in formations
>>
There is also the Sarissa 12-15 ft IIRC.
>>
>>520726
Check Grutte Pier for that one. He allegedly used 2.15m (7 ft) zweihander.

Straight out of wikipedia:
The pike was a long weapon, varying considerably in size, from 3 to 7.5 metres (10 to 25 feet) long. It was approximately 2.5–6 kg (5.5–13.2 lb) in weight.

That one stupid artillery rail gun the Wehrmacht used

Probably pikes. There's an upper limit to how big you can make melee weapons while still having an advantage. IIRC the biggest sabre made is some old Swedish cavalry sabre that was never issued because it was just too cumbersome.

Nah you're thinking of Schwerer Gustav and Dora, those 800mm rail cannons that needed two sets of track to move, and after firing like 7 shells at Sevastopol, warped beyond safe use.

Thanks mate, I knew I heard about it.

In practice weren't most weapons 2kgs or less?

That makes sense. Unless you are one of those WSM fatasses, you won't be able to fight well with a 10kgs weapon.

>wasn't there this frisian dude who had like a 7 foot sword

No.

But there was a "Frisian dude" whose name, 'Grute' Piers Donia, has been attached to a nearly 7-foot long parade sword made 75 years before he was born, and which was found in the city hall of a city 50 miles from where he lived, 250 years after he died.

(and which is identical to other parade swords from the 1400-30's in size and style.)

There's also a "Scottish Dude" whose name, William Wallace, has been attached to a nearly 6-foot long sword made from 3 different blades welded together, and a hilt of a fashion 250 years after his death, and which only gained its association with him 400 years after he was killed....

Only 6kg? Surprising.
