Are we the same animals as we were a thousand years ago, only now technology and better life qualities prevent us from slitting eachothers throats?

1000 years isn't really a lot of time, so kinda.
>>
>>477104
Our minds have not changed in 100,000 years at the least. We have the same wants and needs, that is, and it is helpful to not forget this. Helps me stay rational.
>>
>>477104
Well if you look at africa, asia, south america, middle east you can see that for some reason people still enjoy murder for things like religion or gangs.
>>
>>477104
I don't think the act of murder is a thing of itself, its just an expression of our pulsion of destruction, and that has been targetted elsewhere now. We self-destruct in many ways, maybe more than our ancestors.
>>
>>477104
A lot of us are still motivated by sex and pride when we're not jacking off all day so yeah
>>
>>477104
Yeah, now we can shoot each other instead.

>suspiciously not including North America, Australia, or Europe

>>477157
They have actually. Or at least our brains. They shrunk.

We have better things to do nowadays then killing each other (unless we really want to).

Think about it. Back in the old times of pre-agricultural society, what exactly were we supposed to do? Gather berries or kill things for food. The only fun we had was watching Ooga screw Booga for the thirtieth time or kill the other tribe and take their shit.

After agriculture became a thing, we could farm instead. And since we didn't have to fight to get food, we could devote time to other shit, too. After that, we only really killed each other if we had intense personal reasons, or because we were at war (which is basically just a larger scale version of fucking with the other tribe).

We always wanted distractions (or, more positively, passions), but back then shit was way harder to find.

The only significant physiological different during the past thousand years would be some immunity or better resistance to a couple of illnesses. If you go a bit further there's also more alcohol, lactose and gluten tolerance that we gained since the paleolithic. Other than that we're pretty much the same.
Also, 1000 years is nothing in terms of evolution. Especially not with big animals with long generations, such as ourselves. There would have to be some serious selective pressure around in order to make any significant difference.

I did not included those because there are no civil wars/wars going on amd murders are not as high maybe in north america especially usa but here in europe things are relatively calm, no big street gangs, shootings are not an everyday thing and no armed conflicts are present
>>

History has made us better. We better understand the human condition and know the degree to which we can benefit from cooperation.
>>
>>477104
Yes.

Of course we're the same. Romans were LITERALLY shitposting two thousand years ago.

>II.3.10 (Pottery Shop or Bar of Nicanor; right of the door); 10070: Lesbianus, you defecate and you write, ‘Hello, everyone!’

>III.5.1 (House of Pascius Hermes; left of the door); 7716: To the one defecating here. Beware of the curse. If you look down on this curse, may you have an angry Jupiter for an enemy.

>V.5 (just outside the Vesuvius gate); 6641: Defecator, may everything turn out okay so that you can leave this place

>IX.8.3 (House of the Centenary; in the latrine near the front door); 5243: “Secundus defecated here” three time on one wall.

>Herculaneum (on a water distribution tower); 10488: Anyone who wants to defecate in this place is advised to move along. If you act contrary to this warning, you will have to pay a penalty. Children must pay [number missing] silver coins. Slaves will be beaten on their behinds.

There's also social conditioning. But of course social conditioning does just go back to a way a preserving a social order that allows increased life quality.

Shit can still get nasty given the right situation. Look up the Stanford prison experiment. During wars sometimes the aggressive instincts a soldier has been suppressing his whole life become unleashed and they get PTSD because they can't deal with how they could be so violent.

Here senpai.

http://www.npr.org/2011/01/02/132591244/our-brains-are-shrinking-are-we-getting-dumber

Throughout all races, our brains have been shrinking ever since we evolved, but the process sped up a bit 10,000 years ago. Compare Homo sapiens idaltu or Cro-Magnon's brain size to a modern human now, and you can see the difference. Some people say it's because we accidentally self-domesticated ourselves.
>>
>>480176
We didn't self-domesticate. Technology domesticated us.
>>
>>478391
>usa
>mexico
These are not places with low murder rates. First of all, it's the biggest meme ever that wherever americans go they seem to get shot.
Secondly, why do you think mexicans want to come to the US so bad that they'll illegally immigrate? It's not cause Mexico is filled with sunshine and rainbows.
>>
>>477104
we can make memes
>>
>>480191
Our some illuminati shit is domesticating us...

Nice English.

True, but at least it's not South America

>Honduras

>>
>>480194
I said usa and south america so whats your point???
>>
>>477104

Of course we are, our species evolved around 200,000 years ago,
You could literally pick some random baby from that era and set him in a current adopted family and he would grow into a lambda citizen.

Smaller Brains doesn't mean more stupid you fucktards.

Humanoid brains got smaller all throughout because we got more sufficient at linking information and a bigger brain needs more energy(we are using more energy relative for a smaller brain than a bigger brain because we can afford it)
